‘Guilty... guilty... guilty... guilty...’

This sentence is probably the most important in the chapter. With mostly every jury member saying that Tom Robinson was guilty of raping Mayella Ewell was an injustice to the Negro community. Robinson was not guilty but because of his race, he was. The way the jury was polled was making it seem even more horrible for Tom as he had to wait for every jury member to say he was guilty and it also was making the Negro people up in the balcony even angrier as they watched one of their own be sent to jail.
